It looks like black quinoa.
Annie Jones
So hard to tell from that picture, but I’m guessing black quinoa.
Lynn
@Annie Jones, I know I had trouble getting a good picture of this one. I tried several ways and these pictures were the best.
Annie Jones
@Lynn, I’m sorry. I hope you didn’t think I was criticizing. 🙁 I was just trying to click on the photo to make it bigger, is all. My eyesight isn’t the greatest.
Lynn
@Annie Jones, I did not think that at all! I thought it would be a harder one to guess since I could not get a good close up. Some things just don’t photograph well and I know that. 🙂
Ema
@Annie Jones, to make the picture bigger try holdong down your Ctrl key while turning the wheel in the middle of your mouse away from you.
FishMama
Those are black sesame seeds.
FishMama
@FishMama, no, they aren’t. You wouldn’t buy sesame. But, that’s what it looks like.
Tessa B
red quinoa?
Ema

Catherine
Chia Seeds

LOL, I was going to say chipotle chilli powder until I saw other folks’ guesses and took a closer look. It does look like red quinoa that I’ve found at Whole Foods. It cooks up and tastes the same as regular quinoa, but I like it because it’s more interesting to look at.
Barefeet In The Kitchen
Looks like chia seeds to me. 🙂
Nia
looks like it could be chia seeds or black lentils
whitney

I kept thinking, “that looks like charred quinoa.” Then I saw the other posts and some say black quinoa. Cool. I haven’t tried that, I’ll take a look at my food co-op today.
Nancy Michel
Looks a bit like Nigella seeds, but the whiteish/reddish seeds are not usually found that abundantly in it.
Dineen
Some sort of roe?
Rosemary
I was thinking some kind of chocolate brownie!
Karla
