My family eats a lot of ground beef. In fact, we eat it at least once a week, sometimes several times a week. I recently realized though that many of my favorite ground beef recipes are not on my site.
I started to wonder why I had not shared these recipes and realized that many of them are very quick and easy. Most of them are simple and not fancy at all. They are what many would consider basic and pretty plain recipes. Many of these recipes have not photographed well at all, so I changed my mind and never posted them.
All these reasons have kept me from sharing some of my family’s favorite meals.
But I am realizing that some of my most basic and most simple recipes have become the most popular recipes on my site. Recipes like my Tater Tot Nachos, my Taco Pasta, Mexican Pizza, and Mexican Beef and Beans are the recipes that you all love.
Yes, you all enjoy the desserts I share, but even with those it is the simple desserts, that contain everyday ingredients, that you all love best.
As I have been thinking about all of this, I realized that you all are just like me. You are busy. You might love to cook, but don’t have a lot of time. Many nights you need quick and easy dinners, but you also need them to be kid and budget friendly. You need home cooked meals that you can get on the table quickly, using ingredients that you already have on hand.
You like the quick and easy, budget friendly recipes, because that is what you cook. And the reality is that is what I cook most of the time.
I also know that some of you may be new to cooking or do not like to cook, so you are also looking for quick and easy recipes that contain ingredients you are familiar with.
The fact is that many of the quickest and easiest recipes to fix for dinner contain ground beef or other ground meat.
Earlier this week I asked this question on my Facebook page.
Do you all cook a lot with ground beef and other ground meat? I am thinking of posting more ground beef type recipes if you all are interested. I realized that a lot of our family favorites for ground beef have never been put up on my site. I love them because they are usually quick, easy, and inexpensive type recipes. Do you want to see more ground beef recipes?
I put that question up on Facebook without putting much thought into it. I just wanted to find out how many of you would be interested in more ground beef recipes. I could not believe the response I got. I had 51 comments and 120 likes on that question. You made it clear that you all love and use ground beef and other ground meat a lot.
From your response on Facebook, I think you all would love me to share more ground beef recipes. I also know that you like quick and easy recipes that are also budget and family friendly.
The good news is that most ground beef recipes fit into the quick and easy, budget and kid friendly category. Ground beef is one of the cheapest types of meat you can buy. It is readily available and works well in all sorts of casseroles, soups, and skillet dinners.
Ground beef is also very versatile. You can give it a Mexican twist one night and change it up for an Italian type meal the next. You can use it for so many things.
Because we all love and use ground beef so much, I have decided to start a weekly day/series where we focus on ground beef. This will be similar to the Monday Soup Day series that I am doing this fall and winter.
Starting next week, we will focus on ground beef every Thursday. I will share ground beef recipes, tips for using ground beef, recipes from around the web, and even highlight a few recipes that have gotten buried in the archives of my site. My goal with this series is to share with you ground beef tips and recipes that work for everyday life.
By starting this series now, I am starting it right before the holidays and all the holiday baking and cooking posts I have planned, so there may be a few weeks that get skipped. I will get in as many as I can during the holidays and then after the first of the year it will be a weekly Thursday series that will continue for a few months or until I run out of ideas.
What do you think? Is a day a week to focus on ground beef a good idea?
Jodi
Yes please!!!
Stephanie
Fabulous idea!!!!!!
Brooke @ Waiting to Rise
Yes! I love this idea very much! I do love your recipes for desserts, but I’m always wanting ideas for dinner. I don’t have alot of money to spend on food, but I do spend money on ground beef because of its versatility. Thanks for doing this! Looking forward to this series starting! and ps…your tater tot nachos rock!!!!
Lynn
Thanks! I think we are all trying to watch our budget and still create good food, so I am glad you are looking forward to this. And I am so happy that you enjoy the tater tot nachos. 🙂
Judith
I would love that!!
Janet
Yes, it’s a very good idea! Thank you!
Blessed5x
Sounds great! We are a family of 7 and need ways to stretch the budget & quick & easy meals! Two of us don’t do ground beef (the 10yog and 3mob) but we look forward to the Thursday recipes! 🙂
Jennie
LOVE IT!
I’m so glad to know we aren’t alone in the fact we eat ground beef. For me, using chicken is a new thing. I’m much more comfortable with ground beef and find it somewhat easier to work with.
Lynn
I love chicken, but since we raise hogs, buy 1/2 a beef, and my husband hunts, chicken ends up being a treat in our house. I only end up buying it when I get a really good deal. So, no you are not alone in the fact that you eat a lot of ground beef.. 🙂
Jessica
Yes more ground beef recipes please! 🙂
Penny Garrison
Can’t wait to see the new recipes – we love ground beef! We bought some cattle this year to raise beef, so these recipes will come in handy. 🙂
Linda
I would, in fact, I asked my dh just last night if he thought he would be interested in the tator tot nachos I saw on your website. He was all for trying it.
Lynn
I hope you enjoy them. You can not get much easier than that recipe, and they are so good.
Becca
Yes please! I love ground beef because a lot of times I can pre-cook 7-8 pounds at time and have dinner in a snap. It works great for you Taco Pasta recipe which we love! (And even the 2 year old eats it!)
Liane R
I think it is great idea! Although we love to cook and enjoy some of the more labor-intensive type meals, we are busy and usually have something with ground meat at least a couple of times a week. I’m also very much a fan of your recipe for Skillet Bow Tie Lasagna. Keep ’em comin’!
Lynn
Oh yes, I forgot the bow tie lasagna, that is a favorite of ours and so many readers have loved that one as well. Thanks for the reminder!
Heather
Tha would be a wonderful idea!!
Lisa
I would love more ground meat recipes. My DH hunts too and we usually end up with ground deer and elk. We trim and grind our own. We usually mix it with beef or pork. I like it and my family will all eat it too.
I love your recipes. They look yummy and contain ingredients that I can find and my family will eat. Thanks!
Nicole
I agree I think its a great idea! I love baking, however for my health and my family’s we can’t live on only sweets(as much as I might like to…)!! So i really only follow cooking blogs that have EASY recipes with familiar ingredients. I love beautiful amazing food, but it is not practical for me with my time or money with working full time, hubby in school, and two young kids to cook beautiful, elaborate meals. So bring on the easy inexpensive recipes!! 🙂
angi
I like ground beef recipes and usually find myself substituting them with ground turkey. So, bring on the ground beef recipes!
Elizabeth
Yes, please. We use ground turkey about as much and with many recipes it does just fine. But ground is ground to us…whatever the type. We have used buffalo too, but hubby says he prefers beef over all the others.

Thank you! Can’t wait for next Thursday! 🙂 Reading your recipes and visiting your blog always brightens my day.
Jenny
Yes please! I love to cook and try fun new things but we still have to eat dinner every night. Ground beef is easy to stretch, easy to change up, and less expensive than other meats. We eat it more often than any other meat.
Cherie
I can’t eat steak as often as I can gb cost aside
I’m always looking for new waysto use it!
Cheri A
I think it’s a great idea. We also eat a lot of ground beef, but we eat a lot of chicken here as well. I missed the tater tot post…I guess I better go find it.
Nancy E
Yes, my family and I would like to see more ground meat recipes. Great Idea !!!
Chris
For some time now I have wanted to tell you that when you apologize for your pictures of meals they come out best on my computer. Your usual pictures are not very appetizing but I believe that is MY computer. Please make at least one day a week, if not two, for ground beef recipes. I love new recipes, or even old ones made in a different way. Thank you so much for posting!
Karen
I think it’s a great idea! I rely on ground beef (and like it) because there are so many ways you can use it. Also, I am more likely to try something I see posted if the recipe does not call for ingredients that are either hard to come by or not normally in the cabinet.
Laura
Absolutely LOVE having you in my life!!!! Ground Beef recipes sound like a winner to me!!!!
Dineen
Chicken has become the new cheap for me (89 cent/pound whole chickens and boneless chicken breast so easy to use and often less than half the price of ground beef), but I have found myself using leftover chopped or shredded chicken in my old-family-favorite ground beef recipes. So bring them on, please.
Tirzah
Yes Please!!!! We use a lot of ground beef and I am always looking for new recipes to try!!!
Michelle B
I would love it! I’m able to get ground beef super cheap through work so I always buy a case at a time. So, I’m always looking for new recipes to try.
Nicole
Yes please, even though i never buy ground beef. I’m fortunate enough to have a freezer stock full of ground venison instead 🙂
Tammie
I think this is a great idea, Lynn. We probably use ground beef more often than any other meat, simply because it is cheaper and so versatile. Looking forward to it.
Miranda
Please do! We love your Taco Pasta recipe and I am all for easy recipes!
Kristin
Fantastic idea! I can’t wait! I am going to love this series!
Tori
I would LOVE to see more ground beef recipes. My family uses ground turkey(a lot) which can be substituted for Ground Beef.
I’d also like recipes with limited ingredients, or inexpensive ingredients.
Something easy, 5 ingredients or less, or one pot recipes or casseroles, or easy soups.
Stuff like that.
thanks
Amy
I love ground meat recipes because if you have a basic recipe you can change out pork, chicken, turkey or even vegetarian crumbles. So, yes please!!
Jennifer D.
I LOVE the idea. Thanks for posting them!!
Kim
This sounds great! With the price of groceries these days, ground beef can be very cost effective. I don’t use a full pound if a recipe calls for it.
Amber
I def would like to see more ground beef! My BF would prefer ground beef every night if he had a choice 🙂
Stephanie
Definitely! I am always looking for good ways to use ground beef since it goes on sale frequently. I am going to add your taco pasta to the menu this week since I have all the ingridents. Looking forward to the series 🙂

I make a cheeseburger pie and my husband loves it, makes great leftovers too. Pillsbury pie crust on bottom, brown 1 lb. ground beef, mix with spaghetti sauce, put 1/2 in bottom of pie crust, put any kind of cheese on it, I use shredded cheddar, and put the rest of your meat mixture on it. Put the top crust on, cut a few slits and bake till pie crust is brown. Let sit a little and cut into pie pieces. Make a salad and you have a 30 min. meal!
Lynn
That sounds good!

Please share more ground beef recipes like stuffed peppers and stuffed cabbage. Chills dogs, lasagna, freezer meals etc. Even ground beef is getting expensive. Thanks a lot.
Lynn
All meat has gone up quite a bit. I have shared a chili dog recipe using a no bean chili. The link is below. I don’t think I have ever shared a stuffed pepper or stuff cabbage recipe, but I need to do that!https://www.lynnskitchenadventures.com/2014/09/easy-chili-dogs.html
