Double Chocolate Fudge Cake anyone?!
If you love Cracker Barrel’s Double Chocolate Fudge Cake you will love this copycat version of it. It has been years since I have had the real version of this cake, but from what I can remember of it, this tastes very much like the real thing.
This cake is so good. It is rich, dense, and so very chocolatey.
Add some ice cream to it and it is even better.
This is a pretty typical coca cola cake, but the milk chocolate chips in this is what gives it that rich chocolate taste and makes it extra special. So, be sure to use milk chocolate in it.
If you are gluten-free I even have a gluten-free version of this and it tastes just like the real thing as well.

Great recipe, and great pictures! My mouth is watering just looking at that cake! What speed do you use on the mixer for the frosting?
Suzie
We made this, and didn’t realize until it was ready to go in the oven, but you forgot the oven temperature. I’m guessing 350. Is that right?
Lynn
Yes, it is 350. I am so sorry about that. I added it to the recipe. I hope you enjoyed the cake!

Im not sure what happened. I baked this and it took an hour and it’s all sunk in in the middle.
Lynn
I am sorry. When you cut into it, was it done in the middle? I am guessing it would be after baking that long. I am not sure why it would sink that bad after baking that long. Sometimes cakes can fall in the oven, do you think that is what happened or did it fall after you removed it from the oven?
Sherean
It fell during the baking process. However after I put the frosting on you couldn’t tell, and luckily it tasted pretty good. Not quite as moist as I would have liked but it was still very good. Maybe it was my oven.
Lynn
I am glad it still tasted good. You will probably like my post that will go up later today. I had a different cake fall over the weekend when I made it and my son had some thoughts about it. Basically what you said and that when it was frosted it would be just fine. In fact in his eyes he thought better since the sunken middle would have more frosting. 🙂

How do you think Dr. Pepper would work? I don’t have Coke but I’ll get some if Dr. Pepper won’t work. Thanks!
Lynn
I think Dr. Pepper would work fine. The taste might be slightly different, but I think it will work fine.

What other kind of soda do you suggest, I don’t have Coke or Dr. Pepper ?
Lynn
I think Pepsi would work. Just about any non clear soda non diet soda should work. A cherry coke, pepsi, Mr Pibb, those type of sodas should work. I hope that helps.
