We love my crock pot barbecue pork and I make it often when serving a crowd. Last year I learned a tip from the Gluten Free Homemaker about shredding meat and it made making my crock pot barbecue pork so much easier.
My friend Jen shared the same trick for shredding chicken.
It is as simple as using your mixer to shred your meat. I have tried this with pork, chicken, and beef and it works for all three.
This is a great tip and one you need to try next time you need to shred your meat.
And it is one more reason I LOVE my Kitchen Aid Mixer.
Have any of you tried this tip before?
Stacie
I didn’t read the tip for shredding yet but I will once I post this comment. If it has to do with a Kitchen Aid I don’t have one 🙁 It’s on my list to get and I am hoping at tax time maybe this year.

I totally understand not having a kitchen aid. I love mine and have used it so much, but they are a big investment. I hope you are able to get one soon and I hope you enjoy it.

Just when I was beginning to think I had exhausted all the ways of using my KitchenAid Mixer. Thanks for the tip! It really is one of the best appliances to have around!

This works great! I had cooked a huge batch of chicken in my crock pot and didn’t want to stand in front of a cutting board shredding it. The mixer did it in a fraction of the time and the chicken was nicely shredded.
Lynn
I am glad it worked so well for you. I love how easy it is.

I have tried this and it’s so cool. The chicken breasts bang around a little and then – don’t blink- they’re perfectly shredded and you’re yelling to your husband to come check it out! Made the fastest enchiladas ever and was perfect for chicken salad.
Lynda
Thank you!!
Has anyone tried with a hand mixer or the plastic “blade” on a Cuisinart?
Linda
Thanks for sharing my tip, Lynn. Lynda, I don’t think a hand mixer would work. The plastic blade on a Cuisinart might work, but I haven’t tried it.

I wanted to let everyone know That you don’t need a Kitchen Aid mixer for this tip to work. If the
Meat can easily be shredded using the 2-fork method then you can use a regular handheld cake mixer (with regular beaters) on low to shred. I tried it out after reading this post and it worked beautifully. Now the freezer is stocked with BBQ chicken ready for the bun! Thanks Lynn for doond such an awesome job with your site!
Lynn
Thanks for letting us know how you made it work for you. And bbq in the freezer is one of my favorite freezer meals, so I am glad your freezer is now stocked.
