Over the next couple of weeks I am going to be sharing some of my family’s favorite ways to make homemade pizza. So far I have shared some of our favorite homemade pizza crust recipes and last week I shared a simple hamburger pizza.
This week I decided to change things up a little and do a fun Ask the Readers question regarding the cheese on homemade pizza.
Everyone seems to make their homemade pizza a little different. Often times the sauce or the crust may be different. But one difference I have noticed is simply the order of the toppings and more specifically the cheese.
Some put it on top of the sauce and before the other toppings and some people put the cheese on last, so it is on the very top. Others might be like my family and do both. But I already admitted that my family likes our cheese, so it only makes sense to do both. Right?! Because more cheese is always better.
Now I am curious how do you make your pizza?
Does the cheese go on before the other toppings or is the cheese on top of everything else? And I would love to hear why you make it that way? Do you think there is a taste difference?

Usually I put the cheese on after the sauce and before the toppings. I’m not crazy about mozzarella, pretty tasteless in my opinion, but I do like provolone and will put that on my homemade pizza with a little Parmesan, Jarlsberg, Swiss, or another cheeses lurking in the fridge.

I always put the cheese on last. Just because I always have – guess I need to mix it up a little, huh? We always go for huge amounts of mozzarella or an Italian blend of cheeses. But there is always a lot!!!

My husband says cheese goes on the very top…unless we’re using pepperoni, then it goes on top of the cheese. I tend to agree.

I always put the cheese on last, on top of the other toppings–I guess because that’s the way I’ve usually seen it done where I’ve lived. I usually use mozzarella on pizza because it’s my kids’ favorite kind of cheese.

Some on top of the sauce, add toppings then more cheese to hold them on. Yep, Love my cheese…

I guess we must be related then, because we put some cheese on top of the sauce, but then must have more cheese on top for all the ooey gooey goodness!

I do both like you, on top of the sauce and on the very last. Never too much cheese. My favorite is a mix of mozzarella and pepperjack, but my kids do not like the pepperjack, so I rarely use it. Usually a mix of mozzarella and cheddar/ jack.
