Tuna salad is made into a delicious hot sandwich with this recipe for Martha Stewart’s Tuna Melt.
Tuna melt takes a basic tuna sandwich and turns it into a special sandwich. It is the second recipe that I am sharing this week for my Year of Martha Stewart Cooking Challenge.
I already shared Martha Stewart’s Tuna Salad. Now I am sharing how to turn it into Martha Stewart’s Tuna Melt.
Martha Stewart’s Tuna melt is a quick and easy recipe to make for a weekend lunch or an easy dinner.
My son loves tuna sandwiches. He loves tuna melts even more. Tuna melts were actually one of the first things he learned to cook himself.
When he leaves home I am pretty sure tuna melts will be his go-to recipe when he needs to cook something quick.
What is a tuna melt?
Tuna melt sandwiches are sandwiches made with tuna salad, cheese, and ingredients like pickles and mustard.
What I Changed
When I make a recipe for my Martha Stewart Cooking Challenge I always share what I changed or what I will change next time.
For this recipe, I actually changed quite a few things.
The recipe I used was Martha Stewart’s recipe for tuna melt from Martha Stewart Living July 2017. It is a recipe for open face tuna melt.
The first thing I changed was that I didn’t make it open face. I made it like a normal sandwich with two pieces of bread.
Her recipe also called for you to make tuna salad, but I had already made another Martha Stewart tuna salad recipe that was really good. So I stuck to the one that I had already tried for tuna salad.
I also changed up the cheese. This was because I used what I had on hand. Martha’s recipe calls for provolone cheese. I had Havarti, but not provolone so I used Havarti. I am sure it would be good with just about any type of sliced cheese.
Since I made so many changes maybe we should call this my take on Martha Stewart’s Tuna Melt.
