Skip the box and make your pudding at home with this easy to make Chocolate Pudding Butter Pudding Recipe. This recipe that combines the classic flavors of peanut butter and chocolate takes pudding to the next level.
Homemade pudding is one of my favorite quick and easy homemade desserts to make. Over the years I have shared several different homemade pudding recipes. I have even shared a recipe for gluten free dirt pudding.
One of the reasons that I love homemade pudding so much is that it contains basic ingredients. There is a reason that homemade pudding was a go to dessert for our grandmothers and great-grandmothers.
It contained ingredients they had on hand or could easily get. Pudding has stayed the test of time for a reason.
Pudding is also a recipe anyone can make. It does involve some cooking, but it is easy cooking. Pudding was one of the first things that I taught my girls how to cook.
If you know how to cook pudding you will always have a simple, yet impressive and delicious dessert to serve.
I love a basic pudding, but today we are taking it to the next level. At least when it comes to flavor.
This peanut butter chocolate pudding recipe is the same basic cooking technique as regular pudding, but the combination of peanut butter and chocolate makes it extra special when it comes to flavor.
Can I use a peanut butter substitute?
Technically, yes, you can use Sunbutter, Wowbutter, or another peanut butter alternative in this recipe. Although that peanut butter has a strong flavor in this, so it won’t quite be the same.
If you are a long time reader you will probably know that my oldest daughter has had a peanut, tree nut, and sesame allergy for years. We have had a nut-free household for over twelve years.
However, she moved out earlier this year and although we keep our house mainly nut free since she does still occasionally eat here, we have allowed some things back in the house. This is why you might occasionally see a recipe like this peanut butter chocolate pudding that I have made with peanut butter and not tested with a substitute.

So easy to make. All ingredients I had around the house. Directions were perfect. I followed recipe exactly except I halved it as it is just me. I put pudding in individual glasses once it had cooled somewhat. Made 3 just what I wanted. Just popped in fridge, covered with plastic as you suggested; but I licked the bowl (could not resist) and it’s totally yummy! So nice to make homemade pudding with ingredients you can control. Thank you for an easy dessert!
Lynn
