Lunch at Chick-fil-A! One of my favorite things about Chick-fil-A is the frosted lemonade. Not super healthy, but so very good!
The reason we had Chick-fil-A is that we needed a break after shopping. Mainly because I was shopping with all three kids. A frosted lemonade was definitely a must after that.
I survived shoe shopping with three teenagers. Actually it was not that bad and we found what we needed, which is not always easy because we are a family of tall people with big feet.
One of my daughters is 5 ft 6 in. She is the shortest one in the family. When 5 ft 6 inches is short you know you come from a tall family. 🙂 We also have big feet. The smallest foot in the family is a women’s 10 which can lead to some challenges when it comes to shoe shopping.
This week I was reminded why I LOVE Famous Footwear. And they are not paying me to say that. I truly love them. Very few stores stock bigger shoe sizes. You don’t see women’s size 11 and 12 very many places. Famous Footwear often has them though and if they don’t have them they will order them and ship them to you free of charge.
My daughter found a pair of shoes she loved, but didn’t like the color of them. Since it was a larger size they only had it in one color. However, they found them online in a color she loved and they are shipping them directly to us.
Not only that I was able to get them as part of their buy one get one half off sale. So we got a good deal on shoes she needed in a hard to find size. Once again that is why I love Famous Footwear. If you have a hard to find shoe size give them a try!
We also went to Costco. One of the things we ended up with was Costco muffins. Since I eat gluten free and we deal with food allergies I try to occasionally buy my son and husband a fun food treat. This week it was Costco muffins, which are basically like dessert. My son had never had them and he was quite impressed. I am pretty sure we will be buying these again.
My girls could have cared less about the bakery section at Costco. What they were impressed with were the books.
They spent the whole time I shopped looking through the books. My girls both love to read. Since they are now 16 and 18 their reading has really branched out. They are reading all kinds of things. I love seeing how they are challenging their minds. Neither one read much for novels or fiction. They both love non-fiction and real life stories. They also both enjoy bargains.
So not only did they find books they wanted to read they got on their phones and compared prices. They were surprised to find out that Costco prices were pretty much the same as Amazon or at least within a few cents. The books above are what they decided to buy.
The Nazi Officer’s Wife has been on my Amazon wish list for awhile, so I was glad to see they wanted that one. I am guessing multiple of us will read it.
The Napoleon one surprised me. It would not have been on the top of my to read list. It is a big book and will take awhile to get through. My history loving daughter choose that one and large books don’t intimidate her. In fact, she loves them. Hopefully she enjoys it.
Falling Leaves, which is a memoir, is one I am really not sure about. My oldest daughter picked that one out and it looks like a good, but tough read because of the type of real life situations it deals with. Have any of you read it? If you have I would love to hear your thoughts?
Since we are kind of new to shopping regularly at Costco I would love to hear your thoughts on their books. Do they usually have good prices on their books?
We made chocolate covered dried fruit this week. I thought I had shared this before, but I can’t find it on my site. So I will be sharing next week how I make this. It is one of our favorite easy snacks to keep on hand. It is also very easy to make.
Over the last few months I have been working on some new projects. This is one of them!!
I am so excited! I have been working on several ebooks this year. I also have a fun new gluten free project to go along with them. Next week my Gluten Free Dinners ebook will be available!! I will have more information next week on how you can get it.
I am also super excited about these new ebooks!!
Over the last six months at my house we have been doing all kinds of baking, cooking, and experimenting and I am so excited about the recipes we have come up with. I am almost finished working on these ebooks and I can’t wait to share them with you. Look for them coming this fall. Or sooner if I get the finishing touches done.
I hope you all have a great weekend! We are enjoying the last few days of summer. School starts next week for us… Summer went by so fast, but I will admit that I am ready to get back to a more normal routine and schedule.

I have bought many books at Costco and yes their prices are always much better than anywhere else, at least here in Toronto. I only hope they have the new Harry Potter book when I go tomorrow. Indigo can’t compare, without a special sale.
I buy a lot of bulk foods at Costco, which for me makes a lot of sense, because I cook in large batches to freeze for future use. Costco makes it more economical for me, when I can’t get out to a farmer’s market.

I have loved having a Costco. It is not super close to me, but close enough that I can go a couple times a month. I am glad to know that the books are a good price because we love books.
