Last week was really busy for me. We had multiple appointments during week and we were in Oklahoma City over the weekend for my daughter to take a course at OU. It made for a crazy week and I did not spent a lot of time in the kitchen. We relied mainly on quick and easy meals and things from the freezer.
So, I don’t have a new recipe for you today for my Cooking Through My Collection series. But I thought it would be a good time to ask you about your favorite cookbook or cookbooks.
What cookbook or cookbooks do you love? If you had to only keep one or two cookbooks from your collection what would they be? I can’t wait to hear your favorites. Because we all know I need more cookbooks in my collection……. 🙂
Cynthia
Pioneer Woman have all of them!
1953 Betty Crocker.
Receipes from Lynn’s cooking Adventure!
Lynn
I love the old Betty Crocker cookbooks. Older cookbooks are some of the most used in my collection. I love Pioneer Woman too. Her cookbooks are great. And I am glad you enjoy my recipes as well. Thanks for reading!

My “go-to” cookbooks are the Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book and Betty Crocker’s 40th Anniversary Edition Cookbook. I love all of my other cookbooks, but I seem to use these two most often when I am searching for a common recipe and to make some of my all-time favorites.
Lynn
I love both Better Homes and Garden and Betty Crocker. They are both full of classic recipes that everyone can enjoy.
Cristina
I most often reach for America’s Test Kitchen Family Cookbook (the big red one with the cast iron skillet on front). I have several Cooking Light collections, but I find I only use a few recipes from each, although they are among those that are on regular rotation.
Lynn
I have quite a few cookbooks by American’s Test Kitchen and I agree that one is one of my favorites. There are so many great recipes in that one.
Debbi
My most used/favorite ones are BH&G New Cook Book and Fanny Farmer. Probably a close third is Joy of Cooking. Those are the ones I reach for most often but I have lots of others I use occasionally.

I could not do without Christy Jordan’s two cookbooks. I use them all the time and have only found a few recipes that my picky eaters don’t like. Not only are the recipes great but she has wonderful stories about her grandparents and great grandparents that are worth the price of the books alone. Highly recommend them!
Lynn
I love Christy Jordan’s site! I have met her in person at a blog conference and she is so nice in person and just what you would expect from her site. But you know what I don’t have her cookbooks. I need to fix that. I know what will be going on my Christmas list!

My favorite cookbooks right now are the two Southern Plate cookbooks: Southern Plate and Come Home to Supper. Christy Jordan cooks very much like I do, and her books have helped me remember many dishes I’ve forgotten over the years. So, it’s a lot of new recipes and a few old friends, all rolled into one.
Lynn
I love Christy Jordan and her recipes. I have been reading her site for years. I need to get her cookbooks!

My very favorite is my first cookbook The 1963 edition of McCall’s Cook Book. My second favorite is the Joy of Cooking (original not revised). I have over 500 cookbooks but I still rely on these two.
Lynn
I think you may actually have more cookbooks than I do! 🙂 The Joy of Cooking is a great classic cookbook. I love that one too. I don’t think I have any McCall’s cookbooks. I will have to look for one used.
Dorothy
I actually have 851 cookbooks. I read them like most people read novels and I always learn something from each one. I use a site called “Library Thing” to catalog them. It makes it easy to know what I have. I think it’s only like $20 for a lifetime subscription, which is certainly worth it.

well – I have so many and I try to use them all. Can’t say that I have a favorite – I do have the Cook’n app on my phone and program on my computer and use it quite often as well. I seem to reach for my Point of Grace cookbook – Christy’s Southern Plate ones and a couple that our church has put together 1st then I go to David Venables from QVC then to my Taste of Home collections– I have 5 book cases of cookbooks and cooking magazines Plus the ones I have on Cook’n!

I am addicted to cookbooks! One of my favorites is the ATK Family cookbook mentioned above. I love Ina Garten’s cookbooks although many are not simple things to make. I use two or three local cokbooks-one a friend gave me years ago, another a church cookbook, and the last a fundraiser for our school-recipes from real home cooks. But my go to is my recipe binder of various recipes that have become family favorites from various sources.

Joy of Cooking is my go to book especially for substitutions and explanations about ingredients. For internet recipes I love your site the best. I have a son with peanut allergies and other children with corn and apple allergies. I may be trying gluten free some time in the future as well. I love that you are honest about the results of your recipes.
Lynn
I agree Joy of Cooking is a great classic cookbook. And thank you for the kind words about my site. I am so glad that you enjoy my recipes and find them helpful. I love sharing ways and recipes that help make life with allergies and gluten free easier. So thank you that means a lot!

Joy of Cooking is my go-to for recipes basics – whether it be for a basic muffin recipe or to find the proper temperature of meat. I love my MIL’s original edition, but the one in my house was published in the 90s and works just fine. We also like old-school Betty Crocker… my kids love the Cooky Book from the 60’s!

I really like the cookbooks from the American Heart Association. They give you recipes that are aimed at cutting fat, sodium and cholesterol, but without sacrificing flavor. One Dish Meals and Meals In Minutes are cookbooks that I keep going back to again and again.
