A few simple ingredients are all you need for this simple Martha Stewart’s Brownie recipe.
I am still cooking my way through my Martha Stewart cookbook collection. I started my Martha Stewart Cooking Challenge in 2021 and it has been so much fun.
I have tried recipes that I do not think I would have tried if it had not been for this challenge.
Some of my favorite Martha Stewart recipes are for desserts. Martha Stewart knows baking and I have had great success with her dessert recipes.
I have also had success making them gluten free, this brownie recipe included.
This recipe for Martha Stewart Brownies works great, made with regular flour and with a gluten-free flour blend.
This recipe came from the Everyday Food cookbook by Martha Stewart. I bought this cookbook back in 2010, shortly after it was published. It quickly became one of my favorite Martha Stewart cookbooks.
You can tell that this is a well-loved cookbook by all the post-it notes and pages that have been marked.
This is a fairly basic brownie recipe, but it is so good!
You do not have to add pecans or walnuts to these brownies, but I think the nuts make them extra special.
What I Changed
I did not change a lot for this recipe.
The recipe directions had you line the pan with foil. I used parchment paper instead. I also made them gluten-free, which I explained below.
I also added some vanilla extract.
Can I make Martha Stewart Brownies gluten-free?
I have had pretty good success in converting Martha Stewart’s recipes to gluten-free.
For this recipe, I simply used Bob’s Red Mill 1 to 1 Gluten Free Flour blend instead of the all-purpose flour.
I also read labels to ensure the rest of the ingredients were gluten-free.

Notes
If you are gluten free I tested this recipe with Bob's Red Mill 1 to 1 gluten free flour blend. Other blends might work, but they have not been tested. For gluten free brownies also read labels to make sure that your ingredients are gluten free.

What size on are you using?
Kirsten
I meant what size pan are you using?
Lynn
I am so sorry that was not in the directions. I just updated it. The original recipe said 8×8, but I am pretty sure the pan I used was 9×9. I think either one would work fine it might just have to adjust the cooking time a little bit. I hope that helps.

Hi Lynn,
I never thought I would find a from-scratch brownie recipe that would beat Duncan Hines, but this one certainly does. Thanks for sharing!
Lynn
I am so glad that you enjoyed it! Better than Duncan Hines is quite the compliment! Thank you.
