I will admit that this is not a new food for my family, but I think it will be new to many of you.
This is also one of those items that will show where you live or where you grew up. This is definitely more of a regional type food.

Looks like hominy to me. I’ve also seen it called hominy grits (not the same as just plain “grits”). I haven’t eaten any in a long time, but it is a southern US thing

It’s hominy! I grew up in Wisconsin though. 😉 It’s popular in a lot of Mexican dishes my mom made for us growing up.
Canned lychee. It was the weirdest thing to me because I had only seen it fresh till I moved to the Midwest.

It is cooked hominy–delicious with syrup, or browned butter–yum!!
