GIVEAWAY OVER

The winner is Melissa- melizajane20@

I sent you an email.

I am so excited about this review and giveaway.

Before going gluten free I loved baking and made all kinds of things. I even ground my own flour and loved the benefits of fresh ground whole wheat, but then gluten free eating entered my life. Grinding my own flour was no longer an option and my flour mill was set aside and eventually given away to a friend of mine.

Recently though I was contacted by WonderMill about reviewing their mill for grinding gluten free flours. I can not tell you how excited I was for a chance to grind my own gluten free flours.

I started with grinding my own rice flours and tried them in three gluten free recipes that I have made many times. I made my chocolate chip cookies, my pizza crust, and in our new favorite pancake and the rice flours I ground myself worked perfectly. I could not tell a difference at all.

You can read my full review of the WonderMill and gluten free flours in my allergy section. And whether or not you are gluten free I really encourage you to read my review. I am impressed with the WonderMill and how it works.

The WonderMill is great for grinding all kinds of things not just gluten free flours. You can use this for wheat, corn, and various other things. This mill would be great for anyone wanting to give grinding their own flours a try.

And the good news is that the great people at WonderMill not only sent me a mill to try, they are giving away a mill to one of my readers!

Yes, one of you will win a WonderMill!

To Enter:

All you have to do is leave me a comment. You can leave any comment, but I would love to hear why you would like to give grinding your own flours a try.

Giveaway will end Wednesday, September 7th, at 6:00 PM

One entry per person please.

If you are reading this in email you have to click here and comment on this giveaway post. Replying to this email does not count as an entry.

Disclaimer: I was given a free WonderMill to review, but my thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have wheat storage, but no means of grinding yet. I’ve heard Wondermill is the best, but it’s also rather expensive, so I haven’t been able to get one yet.

I have just found out I’m gluten intolerant. My current mill is contanimanted and I so wish I could afford a new mil so I could grind my own flours again. I pray that I’m so blessed as to win this mill that I want so badly for my family as I make breads and goodies for myself, some of my children and grandchildren who are also gluten-free.

Love your sites Lynn! I have wanted for a long time to grind my own flours to reap the health benefits of freshly ground. I have been struggling recently with some ‘tummy trouble’ and am experimenting a little to see if a gluten sensitivity may be part of my issue. Being able to grind small batches of different flours to try would be a great way to experiment with recipes and substitutions too.

What a great giveaway! I have been hoping to start grinding my own flour for both myself and other members of my family (that way we can share bulk wheat berry cost as well as storage space). This would be a great way to get started.

I love to bake! Grinding my own flour has always interested me, since I use a lot of flour. I’m very interested in trying out different types of grains and increasing the nutritional value of my baked goods for my family and friends. I’d love to win this!!! 🙂

I would love to have a Wondermill in my gluten free baking adventures. Gluten free baking is very pricey but so yummy :0) Grinding my own flour would help keep the cost down.

I love making homemade bread…well, I love EATING homemade bread. I’ve never made bread with fresh-ground flour though, but I’ve heard it’s fabulous.

Oooo, I would LOVE to grind my own flour. This is a healthy baby step I haven’t taken yet, but I hear that freshly ground flour has many more nutrients than the stuff that has sat on store shelves forever.

I would absolutely LOVE to try out this mill! I’ve been reading up on grinding my own flours and I’m giddy to try it! I also believe that my children would LOVE to join in on this activity! Already have my almost 23month old son helping to grind cornmeal in the coffee grinder! 😉 It’s one of his favorite jobs! Not nearly as productive as if I had a mill though! LOL!

Several of my friends have a WonderMill and they absolutely rave about it. I make homemade bread, but I just used store bought wheat flour. I would love to own one so I could mill my own flour. There is a Bread Beckers co-op in my area, so I’d be able to get supplies to start right away.

    September 2, 2011 at 10:32 am

I would love this! I have a budding chef (3 yrs old) and want to have her learn the “right” way to cook – traditionally, not the go pick your ingredients up at the store and throw it together kind of cooking. She has a blast knowing where all the ingredients come from and making the flour herself would be icing on the cake so to speak.

I have been wanting one of these for so long! We have been eating healthier around here for awhile now, so winning one of these would help us in grinding our own flours. Thanks for the opportunity!

I have never grounded my own flour but I would love to try it. I would love to use it because I think that I am becoming allergic to gluten and if I could experiment with my own flour grinding etc it would help out alot besides be more cost effective for our already finacially struggling family. Thank you for the offer !

    September 2, 2011 at 10:49 am

    Dear Lynn,

I presented the WonderMill to my husband a while back, but he’s not as enthusiastic about it as I am. So, the WonderMill has been on my “dream on” wish list on Amazon for over a year now.

I wish I could tell you in person what happened around here these past couple of years. My sister’s old high school psychology book states that stress is the underlying cause of all diseases. This has proven true in my life. In August 2009, my mother ended up in the hospital with head trauma from an accident on a tour bus and died a slow death. I was told that a person’s hearing is the last to go. So, I stayed by her side every other day (taking turns with my dad/sister) and kept telling my mom to hang in there and that she’ll be fine. The nurses told me that my mom would wake up from her artificially induced sleep and be fine, so I hung on to that hope. After she died, almost anything would cause me to go into tears. My eyes were nearly swollen shut and I could barely sleep thinking about my mom. To compound matters, I didn’t have an appetite to eat much for weeks. I felt like a walking zombie living inside a daydream. Then, my husband told me that he lost his job. A few weeks later, I came down with 3 permanent diseases….Thyroid Disease, IC, and Celiac Disease. My husband and I tried interviewing for jobs, but nothing came our way for quite a while. Then, we found ourselves in a situation where we could no longer pay for our house. I just kept praying day and night for my husband, for our young kids, and for our family. Then, nothing short of a miracle happened…very long story, but I can tell you through e-mail if you would like to provide me with your e-mail address.

Also, one of my daughters has food allergies (nut, dairy, soy, corn, and more). I couldn’t figure out what we could eat as a family because the breads and snacks on the regular supermarket shelves either have wheat, soy, or corn in them. The solution for our family was rice as our primary staple.

And since baking is my absolute favorite hobby (please see my post under Gluten-Free Bread Machine Bread), stapling that with the WonderMill to make my very own rice flour is truly a dream come true for me.

I have wanted to grind my own flour for years but have never managed to find the extra money to buy a grinder. I look forward to vacations with my sister in law who has a grinder and generously will grind us a couple of bags of different flours to take home.

Thanks for this timely review! I’ve been following your blog for some time, but just (and I mean JUST) found out I need to be gluten free. I was shopping for a grain mill before, but needing to do gluten free has me mentally whipped… Thanks so much for a useful suggestion!!

  41. Holly

I have been wanting to start grinding my own flours. The only thing stopping me right now is the lack of funds to buy a mill.

  42. Linda

    September 2, 2011 at 11:58 am

My daughter has celiac disease. She didn’t know until she was out on her own. I am always looking for new things to do with gluten free products. This would be a great thing to use to have flour on hand when she is here to visit. I could have some flours on hand and would be able to make something she and have. It is so hard to plan a meal that she can have and everyone else will also eat. I was looking for a site that has regular mixes that I can make and have on hand and saw you also have gluten free mixes. Ya!!!!! Store gluten free mixes can be expensive and not always very good.

twould be wonderful to be able to use this mill and grind gluten free flours…

  46. carla

    September 2, 2011 at 12:07 pm

Most of the recipe blogs I follow are written by people who grind their own flours and write about how much they love it and how great it is. I also know that the store bought flour could have been ground quite awhile ago, which means it has lost some nutrients and likely even some flavor. I would love to give grinding my own flour a try, but cannot afford the financial purchase at this time.

    September 2, 2011 at 12:08 pm

I’d love to set the mill up as a means to get our Mothers of Preschooler group grinding their own grain. It could be a shared resource since the expense of a mill isn’t in their budget!

  48. Mary Demand

    September 2, 2011 at 12:11 pm

It would be great to be able to grind my own flour. I have not been able to make room in our budget for a grinder. I have read how awesome the Wonder Mill is. It would be wonderful to have one!

Lynn thanks for sharing your review of the Wondermill. After a recent Cancer scare I am being much more selective on what goes into my body. I would love to start grinding my own flour so that I can use organic grains and control what goes into my recipes. Thanks for all your great info.

I am fortunate enough to have a mother in law with a wheat grinder. I have used it a ton while living with her. I grind my hard wheat to make wholesome bread for my family. (Helps me feel like I am doing at least SOMETHING special to be a good mommy and wife). We are moving into our own house (FINALLY!!) in the next month and I really really would LOVE to have a grain mill of my own.

Oh, my heart! I am really looking forward to grinding my own flours eventually! We are looking into baking stuff for farmer’s markets and fairs in our area. There are SO many glutenous goods out there, and nothing for people with gluten free needs!

I love to bake, but haven’t taken the plunge to start grinding my own flours. I’ve recently become really conscience of what I’m feeding my family, and I think that grinding our own flour would help me feel even better about what I feed them.
I’m glad that you love this so much, and that it has helped with your GF eating. 😀

Grinding my own flour has always interested me. One of my fellow homeschool moms grinds her flour. She told me about the nutritional benefits of fresh flour vs. flour on the store shelf. I did not realize how much nutrients is lost from grinding and waiting for it to be purchased. I’m very interested in trying to increasing the nutritional value of my baked goods. Thank you for this opportunity to win this mill.

How cool! I went to the HEAV (Home Educators Assoc. of Virginia) Convention for the first time in 2010. I was intrigued to see these families coming out of the exhibit hall with these huge white buckets. Then someone told me it was grain that they would take home & grind themselves for baking. So I ventured back to the Bread Beckers corner & was amazed at all the grinding that was going on! And not just wheat either! I came home from the convention & told my husband I wanted a mill & wanted to start milling our own grain. He thought I’d lost my mind! After a lot of research we decided this would be something good for our family, however due to our budget issues we’ve not been able to afford a mill right now. It would amazing to be able to have one. Thank you for hosting the giveaway & whomever wins it will be very happy!

After losing both of my parents to cancer while in their 50’s, I really started paying more attention to what I was feeding my family and I started making more and more things from scratch. A grain mill has been on my “wish list” for a couple of years now, but have just not been able to afford one. But now, just last month, we were informed that my 12-year-old is considered “borderline” diabetic (there is a family history on hubby’s side) and in my research on the topic I am discovering that a gluten free diet may be what we need to put in place for him, so the mill would definitely be a blessing to have.

  82. Hollie

    September 2, 2011 at 2:06 pm

I’m a “from scratch” kind of gal and I would absolutely love to grind my own wheat flour. There is no way we can afford a quality mill anytime soon, so winning the giveaway would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all of your efforts and time 🙂

its really important to me to grind my own flours now because of health reasons. using a flour mill you have to turn is the pits so it cuts down on my wanting to cook like I should

I would love to grind my own flour. My goal is to switch our family to whole wheat flour and not have to use a combination of whole wheat and white. I read that freshly ground whole wheat flour is not as heavy as storebought whole wheat flour. I’ve also read about the nutritional benefits in freshly ground flour.

I have ground my own flours with a hand grinder before=not too fun. But fresh ground flour is sooo much better! I would so love to win this and use it for fresh baked bread!

I would love to try grinding flours. I have a bread machine that doesn’t get near enough usage. Maybe this would kickstart me baking again.

Amazing!! We are a US military family living overseas and we don’t have access to such wonderful equipment locally! It would be wonderful to win and be able to give grinding my own flour a try. We are always working toward a more healthy diet for our family. Thanks for the opportunity!

DD is starting to eat more and more solid/table food and i’m really not liking the prices of the good bread out there in the market. Sure i’ll pay the price but what I really want to do is start making my own. If you had told me i’d be thinking about this a year ago before she was born I would have laughed and said you were crazy. Then my whole world changed when DD was born and now I look at everything differently.

I would love to grind my own flour. I have been wanting to try it, but I can’t afford one of these grinders.

    Lynn,
I am finding your site so encouraging and helpful. My daughter has to avoid gluten, corn, soy, all artificial colors, additives and preservatives and artificial sweeteners. Needless to say, cooking can be a real challenge. I didn’t realize I could grind my own rice flour, that would be wonderful! Thanks for the encouragement you provide!

Since I already own a grain mill, I’m going to try to win this for one of my best friends. She has had to go gluten free because of a wheat allergy and recent diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. She would love to own this and I think it would be quite helpful financially and from a health standpoint for her as well!

I would love to be able to grind my own flours! We want to be more self-sufficient and I have heard about all the benefits for helping my ADHD 4 year old by eating less processed food.
